Christopher Barnett

Supervising Sound Editor, Re-recording Mixer

Chris's Story

Chris’s passion for  sound began at Pink Floyd’s London Britannia Row. From there, he moved on to become an R&B and Dance Music mixer and eventually found his way to New York, where he began mixing feature films.  With a career spanning over 25 years, he draws upon his varied experiences that range from London West End Musicals (Evita, Chaplin, Starlight Express, Joseph) and NYC R&B (Luther Vandross, Frankie Knuckles, Dru Hill) to feature films such as The Little Prince, Flight, Into the Wild, and Rudderless.  In the past few years, Chris has focused a great deal of his work on Documentaries, mixing Dirty Wars, Bully, Racing Extinction, Icarus, Seeing Allred, and The Final Year.

After studying at London University, NYU, and Full Sail University, Chris has continued to work in all aspects of sound editorial and supervision, while focusing on mixing. He is a proud member of MPSE, CAS, and BAFTA.

Influenced and amazed by the work of his colleagues, he feels constantly motivated to push himself to reach new levels. He enjoys collaborating and developing relationships with filmmakers, and feels lucky to work in this amazing field. He has worked at Skywalker Sound since 2000.
