Kimberly Patrick

Supervising Sound Editor, Sound Designer, Re-recording Mixer

Kimberly's Story

Kimberly Patrick is an Emmy-nominated sound editor and foley artist for film and television.  She grew up east of Washington, D.C. in Bowie, Maryland.  She was always drawn to the arts, in particular music and dance, but constantly struggled with severe stage fright, so she decided to pursue a more behind-the-scenes, artistic career path.
While studying music technology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Kim became interested in film sound and decided to apply to a few graduate film programs. After completing her Bachelors in Music from UMBC in December 2008, she moved to Orlando to work as a college program intern at the Walt Disney World Theme Park. Near the end of her college program term, she was admitted to the USC Cinematic Arts graduate film program. She moved to Los Angeles and began classes in August 2009. She received her MFA in Film and Television Production with an emphasis in sound in May 2012.
Upon graduation from USC, Kim worked as a freelance sound editor and production sound mixer in Los Angeles. Through a recommendation from a USC sound professor, she interviewed and was hired as an intern at Skywalker Sound, a division of Lucasfilm Ltd., in December 2012. She interned with sound designer Randy Thom for over a year.  She has since worked as an assistant sound editor, foley artist, foley editor, sound effects editor, supervising sound editor, and re-recording mixer on a variety of films and television shows at Skywalker.
Kim currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area and continues to work with industry-leading sound editors, sound designers, and re-recording mixers, as well as, filmmakers from around the world. She has had the privilege to work with incredible sound teams for films such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Thor: Ragnarok, Captain Marvel, and, most recently, Toy Story 4.
