Coya's Story

With over 30 years in sound, Coya has built a career defined by creativity, collaboration, and calm under pressure. She got her start at LucasArts in 1994, moving from product support into the voice department, and in 2000 joined Skywalker Sound—where she’s worked on films such as Zodiac, The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Her, Star Wars Episodes II, III, VII, VIII, IX, Rogue One, Soul, Inside Out 2 and Captain America Brave New World.

Her work has earned her an Oscar and BAFTA nomination for Soul, an Emmy win for I Am Groot, 15 MPSE nominations and two MPSE awards for Soul and Toy Story 4. She’s worked as Supervising Sound Editor on Toy Story 4, Turning Red, Elemental, Inside Out 2, and many more, co-leading sound teams with a collaborative spirit and deep respect for the craft.

She’s passionate about recording fresh material, working closely with the Foley team, and helping build the emotional world of a story through sound. Known for her ability to keep projects running smoothly and teams feeling supported, she thrives on the energy of collaboration—from early editorial to the final mix.
